Costs

Invoicing and cost coverage

Medically necessary services are billed via basic insurance (Grundversicherung, OKP); deductible and co-payment apply as with any other medical service. Aesthetic treatments, laser and other elective services are self-pay services – we will inform you of the costs before treatment.

For laboratory analyses you will receive a separate invoice directly from the Viollier laboratory.

Laboratory

Laboratory results

You can view your laboratory results yourself at any time, as soon as they are available: via the My Viollier app, available for iOS and Android, in German, English, French and Italian.

Download the app from the App Store or Google Play and follow the instructions.

An abnormal value in the app does not automatically mean something is wrong. Medical interpretation is carried out by us – we will contact you if a result has a consequence.

Booking

Booking and managing appointments online

Doctena is our online booking platform. There you can see available appointments in real time and book, reschedule or cancel appointments yourself at any time – even outside our phone hours.

Please tell us what your appointment is about when you book. That way we can reserve the right consultation and enough time for you.

Cancellation deadlines and no-show fees can be found further down this page.

Deadlines & no-show fee

The no-show fee covers the time reserved for you and is not covered by health insurance. This rule allows us to run consultations without long waiting times – thank you for your understanding.

If you fall ill

Illness comes unexpectedly – please let us know as early as possible. We can then usually pass the appointment on, and at most the short-notice cancellation fee applies.

In case of contagious illness we ask you to wear a mask; with gastrointestinal infections (norovirus) please reschedule your appointment.

So that waiting times stay short for everyone, the fees apply uniformly – also in case of illness and also with a medical certificate. Thank you for your understanding.

How can I cancel my appointment?

There are several ways to cancel – by phone, by email or via the online calendar (Doctena). What counts is the time your cancellation reaches us (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm).

So that everything stays clear and traceable for you: an appointment is only considered cancelled once you have received a confirmation from us. If that confirmation does not arrive, please get in touch briefly – we will sort it out for you.

Running late

If you are running late, please call us. Often the appointment can still take place. Otherwise we will gladly arrange a new one.

Preparation

Before your appointment

Please bring the following documents to your first appointment:

  • your health insurance card
  • an official ID document
  • any existing medical or surgical reports
  • any existing ultrasound, MRI or CT findings
  • a list of your current medications

Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment so there is enough time for registration.

Print, complete and bring along before your first appointment.

Consultation

One consultation – one topic

Each consultation is intended for one medical concern.

Different questions are generally addressed in separate consultations. A check-up, for example, cannot be combined with a hormone consultation, a fertility consultation or the assessment of acute symptoms.

Further examples of separate concerns are:

  • Check-up and ultrasound
  • Check-up and menopause consultation
  • Acute symptoms and contraceptive advice
  • Fertility consultation and annual check-up
  • IUD check and hormone consultation

Please tell us the reason for your appointment when booking, so that we can plan enough time for your concern.

If you would like to discuss several different concerns, please book several appointments. That way we can assess each concern carefully and guarantee every patient the consultation time agreed.

Disclaimer

Laboratory and radiology results

We take your blood, arrange smears and refer you for imaging (external ultrasound, X-ray, MRI, CT, mammography). The actual analysis and reporting, however, is not carried out by us but by external specialist institutes.

  • Laboratory analyses are performed by our partner laboratory (Viollier AG).
  • Radiological examinations are performed and reported by the respective radiology institutes.

In simple terms:

  • We organise the examination, discuss the results with you and initiate the next steps.
  • The respective laboratory or institute – not the Dr. Wagner practice – is responsible for the quality, accuracy and turnaround time of the analyses and radiological reports.
  • The Dr. Wagner practice therefore accepts no liability for third-party findings. Please address questions about analysis quality directly to the laboratory or radiology institute; we are happy to support you.
  • Laboratory and radiology invoices are issued directly by the respective institute and are not part of our practice invoice.

We discuss results in person, by phone or via secure correspondence (HIN) – never by unencrypted email. If you do not hear from us within the agreed period, please contact us actively.

Findings

Pap smear results

Abnormal findings in a cervical smear are common and usually harmless. In the vast majority of cases, they are caused by an infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), which the body clears on its own.

If a finding requires a check-up or further investigation, we will contact you and explain what the finding means and which next step makes sense.

HPV vaccination

The vaccine against human papillomavirus protects against the virus types responsible for most cases of cervical cancer.

It is part of the Swiss vaccination programme: under the cantonal vaccination programmes, it is covered by mandatory health insurance (Grundversicherung), without deductible and without co-payment. The vaccine is approved up to the age of 45 – it is recommended and fully covered by the cantonal programmes up to the 27th birthday, since 2024 as a basic vaccination for boys as well. After that you bear the costs yourself; whether it is still worthwhile in your case is something we discuss individually.

Ask us about it at your next appointment – even if you are unsure whether you would still benefit as an adult.

Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions

We issue repeat prescriptions after medical review. Please contact us in good time before your supply runs out – not on the last day.

What we need from you: the exact name of the medication and the exact dosage. We do not guess or estimate. Many preparations come in several strengths, and similar-sounding names can mean different active substances – a mix-up can have consequences.

In addition, a prescription is a medical document with legal effect. The preparation, strength, form and dosage must be clearly stated on it. A prescription with imprecise or assumed information is not legally valid – the pharmacy would not be allowed to dispense it and would have to check with us anyway.

If you are unsure: photograph the packaging or the package insert, or ask your pharmacy about the last package dispensed. Without this information, we cannot issue a prescription.

Delivery takes place via an encrypted connection (Health Info Net, HIN). You will receive a notification to your email address and retrieve the prescription via a secure link. There is a reason for this detour via encryption: a prescription contains your name and your medication and does not belong in an unencrypted email.

Please inform us of any changes to your email address so that delivery continues to work. When doing so, please provide your full name as well as the old and new address.

Contact

Questions between appointments

We are happy to answer administrative questions about appointments, prescriptions or invoices by phone or email.

Medical questions that require an assessment belong in a consultation. This is not a formality: a serious assessment requires your medical history and often an examination – neither of which can be replaced by email.

Languages

Which language we speak

Consultations take place in German and English. Our team also speaks additional languages – let us know when booking your appointment which language you feel most comfortable with.

Data protection

Your data

Your data is subject to medical confidentiality. Findings, reports and prescriptions are sent via an encrypted connection (Health Info Net, HIN). Disclosure to third parties, including co-treating physicians, only takes place with your consent.

Emergency

Outside
consultation hours

Our practice is staffed Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

  • In a medical emergency call 144.
  • Outside consultation hours please contact an ambulance service or a hospital emergency department.
  • During pregnancy, in case of complaints outside consultation hours, please contact directly the clinic where the birth is planned.

In case of severe pain, heavy bleeding, fever or a new lump, please do not wait for the next available appointment.

Still have questions?

Call us or book directly online. If you are unsure which appointment is right for you, briefly tell us what it's about on the phone – we'll figure it out together.
